Rotary Lights ahead to returning annual event to Riverside Park
4 million food items have been donated during the first 25 years of the event
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – In just a little more than a month, a La Crosse tradition will light up Riverside Park.
The 26th year of Rotary Lights will start November 27th, which is the day after Thanksgiving.
The annual display brings millions of lights into the park.
And the event helps the community, as a more than 4 million food items have been donated since the event began.
That food is then donated to local organizations.
Those donations can have a lasting impact on the community.
“We have certainly one of the largest displays, one of the largest free displays that is available. And one of the few displays as their whole mission to feed the hungry. So I think that that makes it very popular as well. And the people really appreciate it. And there has been no year like this year where food needs are as great,” said Rotary Lights president Pat Stephens.
With still a month to go before the event, there is still a need for volunteers.
Details are available on the Rotary Lights website.
