Rookie Ponder sets up workouts for Vikings players
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Rookie quarterback Christian Ponder and the Minnesota Vikings are trying to get some work in this week with the NFL lockout stretching toward the three-month mark.
Unable to lift weights or run plays together in Minnesota at Vikings headquarters while the work stoppage carries on, Ponder and some of his new teammates have gathered for some on-field workouts in Bradenton, Fla., at the IMG football academy.
The sessions began Tuesday.
Wide receiver Greg Camarillo said he and Ponder organized the sessions — and that Ponder took care of arrangement and payment. Ponder was given a playbook when he visited Minnesota on draft weekend during the lockout’s brief hiatus by court order.
