Road reconstruction to close 11th Street in La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Gerke Excavating Monday started the reconstruction of 11th Street from Cass to Market streets.

The contractor will be starting on Cameron Avenue and 11th Street South and work south to the Market Street detour. Cass Street should not be affected by this construction; however, when crews reach Market Street a detour will be posted.

A start dated for the Market and 11th streets detour will be determined as construction advances. At that time, the road will be closed at 11th Street South  and have a posted detour.

During construction, Cameron Avenue between 11th St S and West Ave will become a temporary 2-way street to allow access to the Aquinas High School parking lot. There will be no left turn from Cameron Avenue onto West Avenue.

There will be no through traffic on Cameron, Division, Ferry or Market during construction.

MTU will alter bus routes along Market Street. Aquinas High School, Mayo Clinic Campus, First Lutheran Church, and all residents have been notified of the construction project. Anticipated completion is mid- to late November.
