Road construction coming to Hwy. 61 and Gilmore Ave
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — More road construction is planned in our area for this summer, this time on the Minnesota side of the river.
The focus will be on work done at Gilmore Avenue and the Highway 61 intersection in Winona.
Crews will be replacing the outdated signal systems and improving the overall safety and traffic operations at the intersection.
The project manager says the work will make a safer crossing for pedestrians.
“We get intersections that are more perpendicular with the highway and that allows for easier pedestrian access. It’s easier for you and me, people walking across the road, bicyclist, to get across a shorter perpendicular intersection as opposed to a very long skewed intersection,” said project manager Kyle Lake.
The four month project is expected to begin in May.
