Rising Star violinist performs for Boys and Girls Club

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – One young musician is teaching others that practice pays off.

Emily Hauer is one of the Rising Stars Finalists performing in an upcoming symphony.

But before taking the big stage she’s playing for a smaller audience.

On Thursday kids from the Erickson Boys and Girls Club saw what it takes to be an accomplished violinist.

And not only is she playing for them, but she’s also answering their questions and giving them advice.

For Hauer, this is a chance to grow as a musician and a role model.

“I need to get out of my comfort zone. This is a golden opportunity to do that and to share something I love doing with kids who like to hear it. So, what better way?” Hauer said.

Hauer will be one of four finalists performing this Saturday.

The La Crosse Symphony will be giving free tickets to Boys and Girls Club students and their families.

Plus, some of them will even play in the lobby before the concert.
