Residents return after fleeing ammonia fertilizer leak

Residents have returned to their homes following the release of anhydrous ammonia fertilizer in their northwest Iowa town.

The Aurelia Police Department lifted the evacuation order at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Authorities say a valve broke Monday morning on a 30,000-gallon (113,600-liter) tank at the First Cooperative Association elevator, releasing the fumes.

No injuries have been reported.
