Residents return after fleeing ammonia fertilizer leak
AURELIA, Iowa (AP) — Residents have returned to their homes following the release of anhydrous ammonia fertilizer in their northwest Iowa town.
The Aurelia Police Department lifted the evacuation order at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
Authorities say a valve broke Monday morning on a 30,000-gallon (113,600-liter) tank at the First Cooperative Association elevator, releasing the fumes.
No injuries have been reported.
