Residents kick off holiday season with Lights Over North La Crosse celebration
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Downtown La Crosse isn’t the only place you can see holiday lights this weekend; Copeland Park is now shining bright for the 5th annual Lights Over North La Crosse celebration.
The event kicked off around 5:00 p.m. Saturday night with a lighting ceremony, followed by a fireworks display by the La Crosse Skyrockers.
In addition to the lights, there were s’mores, hot chocolate and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
The event is put on by the North La Crosse Business Association but it also takes a lot of volunteers.
“I think between sponsors and volunteers we have probably got about 50 people that have come together to make this happen tonight,” said Nick Roush, president of North La Crosse Business Association.
It is a free event. The lights will shine bright through the holiday season.
