Resale store in La Crosse helps shoppers give back with every purchase

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – If you want to get your holiday shopping done while also supporting a good cause, there’s an opportunity at Fifth Avenue and Main Street in downtown La Crosse.

Resale store Nikinana uses proceeds from sales to help immigrants.

The La Crosse Community Foundation recently gave the store a grant to pay for building upgrades and start-up costs.

Store CEO Dim Sunni Aaronswuche hopes holiday sales will continue to support his mission to help immigrants legally stay in the United States.

“What we are trying to do here is help those who want to stay here legally and work here legally, help them pay for their attorney’s fees,” says Aaronswuche.

Once immigrants have an attorney, they can get work permits and begin their path to citizenship.

Nikinana sells and accepts donations of clothing, new and used furniture, and books.

Low-income shoppers can buy basic items such as clothing and shoes at a reduced cost.
