Representative Ron Kind responds to Supreme Court ruling
Rep. Kind says he is "thrilled" about the decision
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – In a statement on Thursday, Wisconsin Representative Ron Kind said he is “thrilled to see the Supreme Court make the right decision on this case.”
The 7-2 decision shot down the lawsuit aiming to kill the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
The case centered around the constitutionality of the law’s individual mandate to buy health insurance or pay a fine.
In a press conference in La Crosse, Representative Kind said, “While this should bring great relief to all Americans, I’m still going to lead the effort in Congress to reduce the cost of health care for all Americans, making sure we get good outcomes at a better price.”
In September of 2018, Rep. Kind called on former Governor Scott Walker and former Attorney General Brad Schimel to withdraw the state of Wisconsin from the lawsuit.
The state was not officially removed until April 19 after current Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul took office.
