Report reviews public transit options in La Crosse County
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The transportation needs of the La Crosse area are being considered in a new report.
The report, released by the Sierra Club, calls for expanding city bus services.
According to the Sierra Club, 90 percent of La Crosse County residents live with in a quarter mile of a bus stop.
Despite the easy access, the report found a limited number of transfer locations within the county make riding a bus not practical.
“I would say that La Crosse’s system of the kind of middle sized transit systems in Wisconsin is doing fairly well. But certainly evening hours and weekends were flagged as somethings that could be expanded,” said Cassie Steiner, Report Author with the Sierra Club.
Nine communities in Wisconsin were covered in the report.
