Rep. Ron Kind introduces new mental health proposal on Veteran’s Day
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — U.S. Representative Ron Kind discussed his efforts in Congress on behalf of our Veterans on Monday.
The discussion followed his Veterans Advisory Committee meeting, where he introduced a new Veterans Act.
The ‘Accelerate Veterans Recovery Act’ would help expand outdoor recreation to veterans in hopes of improving their mental and physical health. The act would also encourage Wisconsin VA’s and public land agencies to collaborate.
“It’s just not about prescribing opioids and having them addicted to that, but getting them physically active,” said Rep. Kind. “What better place in the country – than right here in God’s country – throughout Western Wisconsin, to really be advocating the outdoor recreational opportunities that we ought to be opening up more for our veterans.”
Congressman Kind could be seen sporting a new bald hairstyle on Monday. He shaved his head to honor his son who was recently diagnosed with cancer. The prognosis is good.
