Rep. Kind discusses top priorities for 2020
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) announces his priorities for the 2020 legislative season, and expanding broadband is a big focus.
Kind has been appointed to a National Task Force on rural broadband expansion.
The Congressman says expanding high-speed internet connection is crucial to the survival of small communities and farmers.
“It’s not only crucial for families, it’s crucial for businesses large and small, it’s crucial for our nation’s competitiveness – that we’re the first to 5G deployment, high speed access anywhere, regardless of where you live. It could lead to the revitalization of rural america,” said the 3rd District Representative.
A top priority for Kind will also be lowering health care costs and prescription drug prices.
In Washington, D.C., Kind is turning his efforts to President Trump’s trade deal with China and the U.S.-Mexico-Canada agreement. He says these deals are a step in the right direction but he will continue to monitor the impacts they have on Wisconsin farmers.
