ReNEW looking for volunteers to fix up La Crosse

Group hopes to complete 20 projects in two neighborhoods

A La Crosse organization wants your help this spring.

ReNEW La Crosse Neighborhoods is looking for 75 to 80 volunteers this year. So far, they only have about 40.

ReNEW helps local housing and community development programs with simple home repairs, painting and landscaping. Their goal this year is to complete more than 20 projects on homes that could use some fixing up in the Powell-Poage-Hamilton and Washburn neighborhoods.

“We all know that we live in a great city, and there’s a lot of us out there who really want to get out and do stuff, meet people and bring the city back to life,” said Habitat for Humanity executive director Amanda Acklin. “Things don’t stay perfect all the time and it takes a lot of work and love and this is a way to get out there and do it together.”
