Reminder from La Crosse Fire Dept. for Daylight Saving Time

Fire Dept.: Check your smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector batteries

Look forward to an extra hour of sleep this weekend.

We’ll roll our clocks back early Sunday morning for Daylight Saving Time. It’s also the time the fire department gives a safety reminder.

Firefighters recommend changing the batteries in your smoke detectors every six months. It’s a tool to keep our families safe and a timeline that works well with daylight saving.

“They won’t wear out in 6 months, but as a reminder, it helps us to remind people that every six months there’s a fresh battery in there, we know it’s going to work, and safety is the most important thing. Batteries are pretty inexpensive,” said La Crosse Fire Department Captain Dan Skiles.

The Fire department also recommends changing the batteries in Carbon Monoxide detectors as well.
