Recovery organization encouraging flood mitigation strategies
River to Ridge Disaster Resilience group helps people, businesses recover
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A local disaster recovery group wants the community to prepare for future flooding events.
River to Ridge Disaster Resilience helps people and businesses recover from floods and other disasters.
They’re encouraging communities to take preventative steps like buying flood insurance, cleaning gutters, and using landscaping to divert water away from houses and buildings.
The Red Cross is working with River to Ridge to provide preparedness information.
“We know how people get impacted by disasters, and we know that it’s disproportionate, so how can we give people the tools now during blue skies for when those grey skies come,” says Molly McCormick from the Red Cross.
