SPARTA, Wis (WKBT) – A local bike expo helps to bring lovers of bicycles and nature together on a beautiful day.
The Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual Rails to Trails Celebration, along with the first ever Bike Expo.
The yearly event celebrates the opening of the three tunnels along the trail.
With the addition of the Bike Expo, people can visit vendor booths of various bicycle stores from around the area.
The new addition also featured a BMX show sponsored by Spartek of Sparta.
The event brings people from far and wide to enjoy the beauty of Sparta.
“It’s recreational, it’s healthy living, it’s a good thing to have in the community and to promote. We have people coming from Colorado, and Washington and a lot of people from Milwaukee. But people come to ride the trails, and especially the tunnels to see the tunnels, it’s a once in a lifetime deal,” said Heidi Prestwood, the Executive Director of the Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce.
A day pass costs $5 and a season pass costs $25.
An estimated 60,000 people use the trails each year.
