Racecar driver surprises two local families with Christmas gifts

A Christmas wish came true Friday night for two area families in need. But it didn’t arrive in Santa’s sleigh.

Instead, Matt Henderson of Henderson Motorsports surprised the two families with more than $1,500 in Christmas gifts.

He helped drive the gifts into the La Crosse Speedway in his racecar to give to the families.

The generosity is thanks to a partnership between Henderson Motorsports and Mid-West Family Broadcasting.

Every year the two team up to help families in need in the area.

“I don’t even have words to describe how I feel, how great I feel. I am very grateful for all of you guys for doing this for my family and making it very special for them,” said one of the mothers receiving the gifts.

“To see their faces, that’s what it’s all about. It’s not about us, it’s not about anybody but the family and just to make their Christmas any better, that’s what we’re here for,” said Henderson.

A total of 12 children were given Christmas gifts thanks to the donations of area community members.
