‘Race for the Rescues’ gets families, pets out for a 4k

Coulee Region Humane Society hosts their first pet-friendly 4k

The sunshine and amazing temperatures brought not only families, but also their pets out to Goose Island Park Saturday morning.

The Coulee Region Humane Society hosted their first annual ‘Race for the Rescues’ Saturday, offering a pet friendly 4k run/walk.

While coordinators were expecting about a hundred participants, the good weather and pet friendly environment helped double that number.

“People really view animals as family now so they’re looking for ways to incorporate them into the things that they do, so everyone’s excited that they can bring their pets because it’s a pet friendly place,” said Coulee Region Humane Society Community Outreach Coordinator Samantha Luhmann.

In the past the Humane Society hosted their ‘Bark in the Park’ event at this time each year, but they decided to change things up a little.
