Pump House Regional Arts Center preparing new exhibitions for La Crosse art lovers

LA CROSSE (WKBT) – The sound of hammers hitting nails filled the Pump House Regional Arts Center on Monday as volunteers spent the day hanging up new pieces of art.

Art from four artists is going up on gallery walls, and sculptures are set into place.

One artist, Mauree Childress, is presenting her set of works, titled Beauty and Beyond Disability.

Childress lives with a mobile disability, and her work features textures of the ground we all walk on.

The Assistant Director of the Pump House, Allison Krzych, says it’s important to bring in different perspectives.

“Having mobility issues, you’ll be able to see in her art something different, from her perspective … it really comes down to access, too,” said Krzych.

The work from all the artists will be ready to view on Tuesday. If you would like to meet the artists, there will be a reception on Friday, May 27.

These pieces will be on display through July 16th.
