Public involvement meeting coming ahead of Highway 35 projects in Crawford, Vernon Counties

Projects scheduled to begin in 2022

DE SOTO, Wis. (WKBT) – The community is invited to share their thoughts ahead of improvements to a busy road in our area.

Two projects will address two sections of Highway 35 from Genoa to just north of Prairie du Chien.

Nearly 22 miles of road is the focus of the projects and plans include a resurfaced road, guard rail replacements and bridge repairs.

A Detour or flagging operation may be needed during the project.

But work will begin in 2022.

An input session next week will give community members a chance to share their thoughts on the project.

Many of the problems have become regular issues along the highway.

“There are many areas along that stretch where there are drainage facilities behind the barrier that currently are getting clogged and causing problems with flooding,” said Ian Winger, Project Development Supervisor with WisDOT.

The public involvement meeting is 5 to 6:30 in the evening Tuesday, January 21st at the De Soto Community Center.

Information about the projects are available here and here.
