Propane tank adapter hoses sold at Home Depot, Walmart recalled
Hoses might swell and leak gas, federal consumer agency says
COMMERCE, Calif. (WKBT) – Gas One has recalled propane tank adapter hoses sold at Home Depot, Walmart and other places because the hoses might swell and leak gas.
The leaking gas presents a fire hazard, according to an announcement from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in Bethesda, Md.
The Commerce-based company sold about 19,500 of the hoses online at Amazon, eBay, Gas One, Home Depot and Walmart between December 2020 and February for between $9 and $18, the CPSC said.
The Gas One 50140 hose is designed to be used with propane gas tanks. Model numbers in the recall are 50140-08, 50140-012, 50140-05GA and 50140. The recalled propane adapter hoses are part of manufacturer batch numbers Pearl River 3Q20 and Pearl River 4Q20, which is stamped on the hose.
Gas One has received five reports of swelling hoses, but no injuries have been reported.
Consumers should top using the hoses and contact Gas One to obtain free replacements, the safety commission said.
The company can be contacted at Gas One at (800) 698-5070 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central time Monday through Friday, via email at email@example.com or at the Gas One website.
