Prom dress resale helping students sell gowns

"It Makes Cents" program opens display for potential prom dress buyers

The first day of the “It Makes Cents” prom dress resale starts Saturday.

After collected for three days, almost 500 dresses went on display Saturday and were made available to anyone looking for a deal on prom gowns.

All money from purchases go back to the sellers of the dresses.

Organizers say it’s a great way to introduce students to personal financing.

“We’re always trying to find ways for our students to make a little bit more money to help pay for even their living expenses, their tuition, anything while they’re in college.  And it also helps high school students kind of think about ways that they could be saving money or the true cost of things or how they can stretch their dollar a little further so it really helps everybody,” said UW-L financial aid counselor Jennifer Weber.

The dress resale continues Sunday from 11a.m. to 3p.m.
