Project Homeless Connect event to provide resources for those in need
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — People experiencing homelessness are invited to hear about resources available to them during the annual ‘Project Homeless Connect’ event.
The event organized by the La Crosse Collaborative to End Homelessness is open to those who are on the verge of or are currently homeless and their loved ones.
It will run from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. at the La Crosse Center Ballroom on Thursday, July 26. A meal will also be provided free of charge at noon.
“We’ll have some folks there doing haircuts, massage, we’ll also have the county. They are present this year to do some services right on hand [including] some mental health assessments,” said Becky Koske, an organizer with the La Crosse Collaborative to End Homelessness.
The event corresponds with the annual ‘Point in Time’ count, where volunteers count how many people are homeless at any given time of year. About thirty people were counted during the event last July.
