Pro-choice protesters march down 3rd Street in downtown La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A group of protesters took to the streets in downtown La Crosse on Friday afternoon.
They marched in opposition to the possible overturning of Roe v. Wade.
The group marched down 3rd Street, blocking traffic in one lane.
The organizer of the protest says it’s a way to get their message out.
“Simply marching on the sidewalks … sure we’re a bunch of pedestrians and it’s plenty legal. There’s nothing disruptive about that, and I believe in disruption for change,” said Organizer Cameron Dull. “People will conflate that to violence, but that is not at all what that has to mean. Civil disobedience and being a bother is the way to get yourself heard.”
The La Crosse Youth Socialist League organized the march.
Dull says the group’s members are high school and college-aged members of the community.
