PRiDE in the Park celebrates diversity in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The Center: 7 Rivers LGBTQ Connection hosted Pride at the Park as part of its annual week-long PRiDE celebration.
There were artists, merchants, food vendors and exercise sessions with a drag king. The La Crosse Public Library hosted an LGBTQ+ history walking tour during the event.
Andrew Ives, the vice president of The Center: 7 Rivers LGBTQ Connection, said events like this, plus The Center’s youth groups, help young LGBTQ people feel less isolated.
“Growing up as a young gay person I didn’t know any people that were like me, so when I see younger people I just have a lot of hope for them and a lot of love for them: That they get to see that, and they get to see a community coming together,” said Ives.
