Prelim hearing set for La Crosse man accused of killing 2-month-old kitten
LA CROSSE (WKBT) — A judge set the preliminary hearing for a La Crosse man who faces a felony for allegedly killing a 2-month-old kitten.
According to the criminal complaint, on May 21, 30-year-old Kenneth Becker grabbed and threw the family kitten against a wall after it scratched him while he was sleeping. The animal died shortly after.
The kitten belonged to his children, who buried it in their backyard, according to the complaint.
Police arrested Becker on charges of mistreatment of animals and bail jumping, all as repeaters. According to law enforcement, he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest and was out on seven total bonds. Four of those bonds were for felonies.
Becker made an appearance in court Tuesday after being held on a $21,000 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 2.
