Prairie du Chien man suffered serious injuries after being hit in the crosswalk Saturday
Prairie du Chien, Wis. (WKBT) — A 63-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle Saturday night in Prairie du Chien.
Chief Chad Abram with the Prairie du Chien Police Department says Tracy Hutchens was walking in the area of East Blackhawk Avenue and Michigan Street around 10:40 p.m. when he was hit in a crosswalk by a truck.
Hutchens suffered serious injuries and was transported by Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance to Crossing Rivers Health, but was later taken my Medlink air to La Crosse.
Abram said the driver of the truck, 33-year old Christopher Gossman, of Farmersburg, Iowa, left the scene and was later tracked down by the police thanks to witness testimonies.
The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office arrested Gossman for an OWI. Gossman will likely face more charges for the hit and run in Wisconsin.
The investigation is ongoing.
