Police memorial held in Viroqua
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — 38 officers have been killed in the line of duty in the United States so far this year.
Three of those deaths were in Wisconsin
Tuesday, Vernon County honored the sacrifices of law enforcement officers at their annual police memorial service.
Since 1953, three officers from Vernon County have died in the line of duty.
The sheriff says whether people realize it or not, their lives are impacted by those who serve.
“For law enforcement, this is that time when again the community can say thank you and they appreciate the service that they’re doing and that gives the law enforcement officers that renewed sense of why they do it,” said Vernon County Sheriff John Spears.
The memorial service comes during National Police Week.
