Police: Customer stabs Minn. grocery store worker
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A 67-year-old St. Paul man is under arrest after allegedly stabbing a grocery store worker in the chest.
Police were called to an assault at a Rainbow Foods in St. Paul about noon Monday. Officers found a 48-year-old employee with a cut on his chest.
The worker was taken to Regions Hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.
Investigators believe the suspect became upset while trying to buy items at a checkout lane. After the suspect began yelling and swearing, an employee asked him to leave.
While the employee and the man were walking toward an exit, police say the man suddenly stabbed the employee once in the chest with a pocket knife.
A store security officer tackled the suspect and held him until police arrived.
