Polar Plunge schedule adjusts due to winter weather
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Winter weather is creating problems for this year’s Polar Plunge.
All Friday evening events have been canceled for this year.
That includes the Freezin’ for a Reason 5k and fireworks.
The recent mix of rain, snow, sleet and freezing temperatures forced the changes.
Even with a shorter schedule, people can still make an impact.
“It’s a little inconvient for our participants, but we really hope that people did register for the 5k still turn in their pledge money that they may have collected and we do have their incentive prizes, their t-shirts, and if they raised other money for other prizes,” said Kerry Gloede, Polar Plunge committee member.
Registration for this year’s polar plunge starts Saturday at 9 a.m.
Opening ceremonies are at 11 a.m.
