Polar Plunge raises more money despite fewer plungers

Fundraiser benefits Special Olympics of Wisconsin

An annual fundraiser pitting people against the cold of the Mississippi River is helping the Special Olympics.

La Crosse’s annual Polar Plunge hosted fewer plungers than previous years, while raising more money than in the past.

711 people took the challenge this year, down from 750 last year, but organizers say the plungers were able to raise even more money this year, about $142,000.
