‘Point-in-Time’ count records low number during Winter 2019 survey

Annual count checks for homeless in La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The annual point-in-time count is giving local leaders a look at how homelessness is impacting our area.

Volunteers were out in the area Thursday morning, looking for people that are homeless in our area.

Volunteers say they found only four people during the count.

That is one of the lowest numbers that the Coulee Collaborative to End Homeless has seen in our area.

More work is needed to end homelessness in our area.

“There are other small projects that we’re working on, better shelter coordination so we get everybody sheltered, that was very evident when we did the PIC count,” Julie Mcdermid, Coulee Collaborative to End Homelessness project manager.

The winter point in time count in 2018 also found four people.
