Plow crews preparing for another round of snow in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Salt supplies are being impacted by several rounds of winter weather over the past month.
La Crosse street department staff say salt supplies are running lower than normal.
Heavy snowfall across the Midwest is impacting communities throughout the region.
Salt is being delivered to communities that are in need, rather than regular deliveries.
In La Crosse, resources are having to shift to meet the immediate need.
“We had trucks already for snow removal downtown and we use the same vehicles for salting so the trucks that were no salters in, we had to put salters back in because of this round that’s coming Wednesday,” said Mike La Fleur, City of La Crosse Street Superintendent.
The budget for snow removal for the city has not been exceeded, although road crews have had to work extra hours.
