Plenty Of Clouds Today, Spotty Showers Or Sprinkles?

Slight Chance Of Light Rain Or Mix Tonight

Thursday’s Forecast High: 49F / Tonight’s Low: 37F…

As advertised, rain fell across our area Wednesday afternoon through about midnight last night. Some spots north of I-90 saw over .50″ of rain, with lower amounts falling south of the interstate.

Rainfall Reports From Wednesday Afternoon & Night

Some breaks in the clouds occurred early this morning in the La Crosse area, and some may see some breaks this morning… mainly north. Otherwise, expect plenty of clouds yet again today. A weak disturbance will ride east along a cold front that is now to our south. As it does, it could spark some isolated light rain showers or sprinkles in spots… especially across southern portions of the viewing area.

Thursday Morning Surface Map

Temps today will be fairly seasonable with highs ranging from the mid 40s to low 50s. The warmest spots may end up being across northern sections of the viewing area, where clouds may be a bit thinner and rain chances will be much lower.

Plenty Of Clouds Again Today

Mostly cloudy tonight with a slight chance of light rain. Some spots could see snowflakes mix in where temps drop into the low-mid 30s. Any precipitation should remain liquid in La Crosse with a low around 37F.

Light rain or a light mix could linger into early Friday morning. Otherwise, expect more clouds than sun… but I do think many areas will see some peeks of sun, especially during the afternoon hours. It will be a bit warmer Friday with highs in the low-mid 50s.

Looking Ahead… A potent area of low pressure moves northeast into the region Friday night into Saturday. As a result, rain will become likely Friday night, especially after midnight. Periods of rain will continue on Saturday and some spots could even see some thunderstorms. Highs on Saturday will be in the low-mid 50s. The rain could linger into Sunday morning. It will also be rather breezy Sunday, with N/NW winds 10-20 mph and gusts around 30-35 mph possible in some areas. Highs Sunday will be around 50F.

Near Or Above Average Temps Common Next 8 Days

Mostly sunny, dry and warmer Monday with highs in the upper 50s. Some spots could flirt with 60F. Small chance of rain showers Tuesday (forecast models are not in good agreement on rain chances for Tuesday) with highs in the low-mid 50s.

It looks like we’ll remain in the low-mid 50s through the week, although a few forecast models do hint at cooler air later in the week. Wednesday is looking mainly dry, then slight chances for light rain showers for next Thursday and Friday.

Have a good Thursday! -Bill Graul
