Plea change denied in shooting death of Sara Hougom
Pao Choua Vue requested his guilty plea be thrown out
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A La Crosse man’s appeal to change his guilty plea in the shooting death of a young woman was denied.
Pao Choua Vue, 23, drove his nephew who robbed and fatally shot 20-year-old Sara Hougom in 2012.
Vue pleaded guilty to first degree reckless homicide as part to the crime. Vue asked the court to throw out his guilty plea after a new attorney told him it’s possible a jury would not have proven he intentionally set out to help his nephew rob someone.
La Crosse County Judge Todd Bjerke denied the request.
Vue is serving a 35 year prison sentence.
