PGA hosts golf clinic for veterans in Tomah

TOMAH, Wis. (WKBT) — For many, golf is just a game. However, for veterans struggling with mental and physical health, the game can go a step further and provide relief.

The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) works with veterans to organize the HOPE Golf Clinic (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere). On Monday, PGA professionals Joe Wood and Aaron Saari joined veterans at Tomah’s Jason Simcakoski Memorial Golf Course.

“The PGA system here is great,” said Linda Simcakoski, Jason’s mother. “The veterans come out and they want to golf. These guys are great. Getting them in these programs helps their therapy. It’s just a great program all around.”

Organizers said this program allows more veterans the opportunity to learn more about golf as a therapeutic exercise.
