Pet licensing deadline coming up in La Crosse County
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — The deadline to make sure your pet is licensed is coming up.
Starting April 1st, a $25 fee will be charged to pet owners that do not have their pets licensed.
All dogs that live in Wisconsin must be licensed …proving that the animal has received a rabies vaccination.
In addition, cats in La Crosse, Onalaska, Campbell, Shelby and Rockland in La Crosse County must be licensed.
Coulee Region Humane Society staff say licensing protects animals and the community.
“It helps to pay for services provided animal control, and just to keep a number, a limit on how many pets are owned,” said Coulee Region Humane Society Animal Control Supervisor Kathy Kasakaitas.
The fine for an unlicensed pet in La Crosse County is $250 per animal.
