Periods Of Showers & Isolated Thunder Tonight -Bill Graul
More Showers & T-Storms at Times on Saturday
Tonight’s Forecast Low: 53F / Saturday’s Forecast High: 63F…
You’ll want to keep the rain gear handy this evening… and right through much of the weekend. Expect light rain showers this evening as a weak front lifts northeast across the region, then more showers and isolated thunder will be a good bet overnight. Lows will range from the mid 40s to the mid 50s, with breezy SE winds.
Couple areas of low pressure over the Plains will merge into one and track east/northeast right across our area over the weekend. As the system approaches, expect periods of more showers and t-storms on Saturday… but it’s not going to rain every minute of the day. There will be a wide range in temps Saturday, with highs near 50F (north) to the mid 60s (south). SE winds will remain gusty around 10-20 mph, with gusts to 35 mph possible.
There’s still an outside chance for a few strong to isolated severe storms (Level 1 risk) from the midday hours into the evening hours, mainly south/east of La Crosse. The greater severe threat will be over SE Wisconsin and into Northern Illinois. Keep an eye on the forecast, just in case.
Scattered showers will likely persist Saturday night and even linger into part of Sunday, especially through about midday. Highs on Sunday will be in the low-mid 50s and still a bit breezy as well. Rainfall totals Friday night through Sunday could climb into the .50″ to 1.00″ range, perhaps even more than 1.00″ in some spots.
Looking Ahead… Mostly cloudy, but dry Monday… then another chance of showers Monday night into Tuesday. Temps will be cool to start next week, with highs Monday and Tuesday in the mid-upper 50s. Partly sunny Wednesday with highs near 60F.
Small chance of showers next Thursday and Friday, with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s. Next Saturday looks dry at this time, with highs in the low 60s. Have a great weekend, but keep that rain gear handy for sure! -Bill Graul
