Periodic Light Snow Or Mix Today
More Of The Same Friday
Thursday’s Forecast High: 34F / Tonight’s Low: 30F…
Light snow fell across the region last night and will taper and shift east this morning. Most areas picked up around 1″ to 2″ of new snow last evening and overnight… making for a slippery morning commute. Be sure to allow extra time and use caution on the roads today. Some areas also saw a couple of inches of snow on Wednesday, especially north and west of La Crosse.
The snow will taper this morning, but clouds will remain. Low pressure will continue to slowly track by to our south today, tonight and Friday. This will send moisture north into our area, spelling the chance for periods of light snow or a light mix during the daytime hours… then mainly light snow at night. There will be dry hours as well, albeit cloudy. Temps will remain above average with highs today in the low-mid 30s, then lows tonight in the upper 20s to around 30F. High temps Friday will be back in the low-mid 30s.
Any additional snow accumulations today will be light, perhaps a 1/2″ or less. Additional accumulations tonight and Friday could bring totals into the 1/2″ to 2″ range through early Saturday morning, perhaps some isolated higher totals in far eastern parts of the viewing area. 3″ to 4″+ will be possible over eastern parts of the state, so keep that in mind if you have travel plans in that direction heading into the weekend.
Looking Ahead… We will finally get rid of this long-duration light snow/mix event Saturday morning. This will lead to a mainly dry weekend, but still expect mostly cloudy conditions. Highs this weekend will be in the mid 30s.
Temps will remain mild for January through next week. Highs will mainly be in the low-mid 30s, with lows in the 20s. Another system could bring the chance for some light snow or a mix from later Tuesday through Thursday. Monday and Friday look dry at this point, but still mostly/mainly cloudy.
Have a good Thursday! -Bill Graul
