Pepin/Alma falls in semifinals in first state baseball appearance

Rib Lake knocked off Pepin/Alma in the WIAA Division 4 state semifinal game 6-2

Rib Lake knocked off Pepin/Alma in the WIAA Division 4 state semifinal game 6-2 Wednesday at Fox Cities Stadium.

Logan Carroll, Lance Johnson, and Tyler Meixner each had two hits for the Eagles.

It was the first state baseball appearance for Pepin/Alma. Prior to this Alma was a spring qualifier in 1967 and won the summer state tournament in 1971.

“We were saying before the baseball season even started that we can go to state, we have the talent. And not just go to state, we were hoping to even win one,” said senior outfielder Trevor Heit.

“But no too many get to say they got to go to state three times in their high school career so we can’t complain.”

Heit and many others on the team were members of the football team that qualified for state both in 2014 and 2015.
