PBS encourages local children to get more active
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Wisconsin Public Television held the PBS Kids ‘Get Up and Go!’ event Saturday at the downtown La Crosse Public Library. Organizers say the family-friendly event encourages children to have “healthy and active lives”.
PBS Kids characters Daniel Tiger and Nature Cat made an appearance, and there was a performance by musician Jim Gill.
Organizers say the event started 20 years ago in Madison to bring messages from Wisconsin Public Television’s children’s programming into the community.
“About 10 years ago we started working with partners in La Crosse, Eau Claire and Appleton to do events around the state, and it’s just been a really great partnership. And this event in La Crosse is every year a phenomenal one with lots of great activities and music,” said Erik Ernst, the Wisconsin Public Television promotions manager.
