Partly To Mostly Cloudy Today… But Mild
Wintry Mix To Snow Likely Tomorrow
Wednesday’s Forecast High: 40F / Tonight’s Forecast Low: 28F…
Expect mostly cloudy skies today, but temps will remain mild with highs in the mid-upper 30s to around 40F. An approaching warm front may squeeze out some sprinkles or flurries in spots during the midday hours.
After some partial clearing this evening, expect clouds to thicken tonight as a storm system approaches from the west. There will be a chance for a wintry mix (perhaps some freezing rain or drizzle?) towards morning. Lows tonight will be in the mid-upper 20s.
That chance of wintry mix will then transition to mainly snow mid to late morning, with periods of snow likely through the day. Highs Thursday will be in the mid 30s, with winds increasing as they switch to the west around 10-15 mph, with gusts to 25 mph.
Snow showers look to continue Thursday night into Friday, with highs Friday in the low 30s. Forecast models are not in great agreement in how much snow will fall across the region, partly due to the fact an area of low pressure looks to develop right over our area and stall out for a bit. Exactly where that low sits for a time will be key in who gets some higher snowfall totals. For now, our area could see anywhere from 1″ to 6″+ through Friday night or early Saturday morning. The highest totals look like they will occur to our north & west, but this is far from certain… so stay tuned for updates! We will call both Thursday and Friday ALERT DAYS due to travel impacts from the wintry weather.
Looking Ahead… Flurries could linger into early Saturday, otherwise expect a mostly cloudy day. I’ve added a small chance of snow showers or flurries Sunday due to a weak disturbance zipping southeast across the region. Highs Saturday will be near 30F, then mid 20s on Sunday.
Mostly cloudy, but mainly dry next Monday through Thursday. There could be some flurries at times during that stretch, but nothing looks real organized at this point. Highs will mainly be in the mid 20s Monday and Tuesday, then upper 20 to around 30F Wednesday and Thursday.
Have a good Wednesday! -Bill Graul
