Parents can help students adjust as schools return to in-person learning

Many local districts will return to in-person learning by late January

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – School districts are preparing to bring students back.

For the students that are returning to class rooms for the first time this school year, they can expect to find some changes.

School may look and feel different due COVID-19 precautions.

While change can be difficult, health professionals say parents and caregivers can help by just talking to their kids.

“Explaining to them that their masks will keep them from getting sick and help others not get sick and keep their teachers from getting sick. And then kids are really, really resilient and do a beautiful job of following through with what we suggest,” said Gundersen Health System pediatrics department chair Dr. Jennifer Kleven.

The School District of La Crosse will bring some students back for in-person learning on January 20th.

In Sparta, students will be in school buildings two days a week starting January 19th.

And students in La Crescent will be back in classrooms following a shift to hybrid learning January 18th.
