Parade Marshal Breakfast opens up Oktoberfest’s final day
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A successful Maple Leaf Parade was celebrated with pancakes Sunday morning when Maple Leaf Parade and Torchlight Parade marshals from throughout the years gathered at the Northside Festgrounds to put on the Parade Marshal Breakfast.
Tickets were $4 in advance and $5 at the door.
The current Maple Leaf Parade Marshal, Neil Duresky, said the late nights and early morning that come with the job are worth it for community, Gemütlichkeit and the amazing pancakes.
“I love it! It’s the greatest pancake I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to a lot of pancake breakfasts. It’s a good time. There [are] people having a good time. I’ve talked to a number of people; they’re enjoying Oktoberfest,” said Duresky.
Duresky said he’s met people from Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Missouri and more at this year’s festival.
