Panthers preparing for biggest test in rival Aquinas

The West Salem football team lost to Onalaska on Opening Night, 14-13. The Panthers haven’t lost since.

West Salem has reeled off seven straight wins since that evening, and now the Panthers control their own destiny in the Coulee Conference. On Friday night, they’ll take on an undefeated Aquinas team with a conference title up for grabs.

” They understand the gravity of that game on Friday,” West Salem Head Coach Justin Jehn said. “We just need to funnel that into their preparation this week and be in a spot where we can let the reigns go on Friday night.”

“We’ve been anticipating this since Week One,” senior quarterback Brett McConkey said. “We just knew we had to win every other game and then take it one game a time, and this week, we can focus on what we’ve been preparing for all year.”

The wait is almost over as the Panthers and Blugolds are set to clash Friday night at UW-La Crosse’s Roger Harring Stadium.
