Packers WR Lazard steps up vs. Saints with no Adams

No Davante Adams, no problem for the Packers offense, as they put up 37 points in the win over the Saints Sunday night.

Adams himself even joked last week that the team would be fine without him, because they went 4-0 last year when he was out with a turf toe.

And a big reason why the Packers were just fine Sunday was the play of Allen Lazard–six catches for 146 yards, a touchdown, and the game ball afterward.

Lazard told himself going into that game that it was his opportunity to step up and to prove that 2019 was the start of something special.

“Really just this whole offseason of just building off last year,” Lazard said, “building off the same mindset, same work ethic, same attitude going into this season.”

“He’s earned everything that he’s gotten,” head coach Matt LaFleur said. “I think he’s got the respect of all his teammates. I certainly know that I can speak for the coaches that he’s got all our respect.”
