GREEN BAY, Wis. (WKBT) – The Green Bay Packers canceled their 15th annual Tailgate Tour, which originally had been scheduled to stop in La Crosse, Madison and Milwaukee from May 15-17, but the team will donate $25,000 to each of the nonprofits that would have benefited.

The donations will go to Habitat for Humanity in La Crosse, Special Olympics Wisconsin in Madison and Stars and Stripes Honor Flight in Milwaukee.

The team attributed the cancellations to government recommendations to limit crowd sizes amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

“While we realize this is the most responsible path forward, we are saddened to miss the opportunity to greet fans throughout the state of Wisconsin,” said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy. “We are grateful for our fans’ understanding and patience as we navigate this difficult time and make tough choices to prioritize health and safety.”

Those who have have bought tickets can get refunds at Habitat La Crosse for La Crosse,  Special Olympics for Madison and Stars and Stripes for Milwaukee.
