‘Overwhelming’ response saves La Crosse Community Thanksgiving Dinner
2015 Community Thanksgiving Dinner back on after community steps up to volunteer
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — This year’s La Crosse Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be happening after all.
Three days after announcing the event’s cancellation, the La Crosse Community Thanksgiving Dinner Board of Directors announced Monday the dinner has been saved. The board says it received an overwhelming response after Friday’s announcement, receiving numerous offers to help with the event’s planning.
The board originally cancelled this year’s dinner after having trouble finding volunteers to serve on the planning committee. In a press release, the board said they weren’t comfortable holding the event if they weren’t able to plan it well.
The La Crosse Community Thanksgiving Dinner has been held for the past 33 years, providing thousands of people a warm meal and a place to go for the holiday.
A meeting will be scheduled soon to begin the planning process. If you’re interested in helping with the event’s planning, you’re encouraged to send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
