Outdoor enthusiasts celebrate “Force of July” in La Crosse’s Upper Hixon

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — The Outdoor Recreation Alliance celebrated “The Force of July” in the Upper Hixon Forest Friday with plenty of outdoor activities with a Star Wars tie-in.

ORA hosted 5K and 10K runs, a mountain bike skills clinic and a guided hike. Dozens of volunteers turned out to help and participate– with the goal of getting people outside.

“Any use to the trails is so important. I could go on for a long time about the benefits of fresh air, and getting kids off screens, and getting people outside. La Crosse is a special place because we have these trails right in town,” Chris Stinet, a member of ORA, said.

There were plenty of events under the Star Wars theme after a grill-out lunch.

Events were held on the Vader, Jedi and Nerf-Herder trails in Upper Hixon.
