Organizers hope the completion of new Holmen BGC gives community a sense of normalcy
HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) – A multi-million dollar project is well underway in Holmen.
Construction of the new Holmen Area Boys and Girls Club and Community Center started about two months ago.
Right now crews are working on the existing facility, which is 35,000 square feet.
Two-thirds of it will house the Boys and Girls club.
The rest will serve as a community center and space for the Holmen School District.
Organizers are optimistic that this will help bring the community back together.
“When this facility opens, hopefully, life will be back to normal, and it will give kids opportunities to connect with people in this community,” said Jake Erickson, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse.
The next phase of construction is scheduled to start in a few weeks, and the building is set to open in September.
Upcoming fundraisers for the project have been canceled.
